Mary's Milk Bar

21392_592981020741899_1791362633_nMary’s Milk Bar is a cosy space for you to enjoy the best quality gelato and chocolate. The key to all Mary’s products is freshness. There aren’t truffles with a shelf life of 6 months – everything uses fresh ingredients with no preservatives. This means everything is just that little bit more delicious!
Mary’s truffles pride themselves on their soft centres and unusual tasty flavours. The gelato is soft and creamy – every week there’s new flavours and new ways to enjoy them. You can take a scoop away with you, enjoy a ‘gelato oyster’ in a chocolate shell or one of the weekly seasonal sundaes. In short, everything you want from an ice cream and chocolate is here. Mary also hosts little parties, workshops and tasting evenings for you to taste, learn about and enjoy gelato and truffles.
Mary has worked as a chocolatier for the last five years. She trained in Bologna, Italy at the prestigious Carpigiani Gelato University, not everyone can say they’re a Gelato graduate! She’s from that lovely republic of Yorkshire, and has fond memories of holidays in Scarborough, Whitby and Morecambe – all of which still have original milk bars.

Usually I am wary of restaurant or gelato places that occupy the number 1 position. It is a huge claim. However, my experience at Mary's Milk Bar had definitely gave me a taste of heaven. This is the best gelato I have ever had and I have been to Roma.
The place is so simple, yet warm and welcoming. I understood from Mary, the owner, that she actually painted it to be the same color of her living room. Mary is an incredibly talented young lady. She makes almost everything herself. She is nice and hospital. She hosts her guests even after they are done eating. I think they go there for the gelato and her company.
This place made regret all the five stars I have given before, because it is definitely special. Go there not to judge or assess, but simply to enjoy a very simple human experience. You might find artists over there drawing the Castle, enjoying Mary's hospitality
We had to visit this place based on its fantastic reviews and perfect location. On our way, we were caught in horizontal rain and were wondering if we should just go get something hot instead. I'm so glad we braved it!!! Gorgeous little set up with a friendly smile to welcome us as we entered. I chose salted caramel and strawberry scoops and my boyf went for hot toddy and hazelnut. Yum mm Mmmm mm!!! We soon forgot about the cold, wet weather outside as we concentrated on devouring our magical Gelatos. We couldn't believe how much they tasted like their names!!!! And a total bargain of a price too. We would recommend to everyone. And don't let the cold weather put you off!!!
